Corns - Homeopathy Treatment - Dr.S.Chidambaranathan M.D (Homeo)

Corns
by Dr S. Chidambaranathan B.H.M.S, M.D Homeopathy Doctor Madurai   (Treatment avail for all people around the world)

SKIN – Corns

Excuses are the nails used in the house of failure,’ is a popular saying. Likewise, corns – nails of foot or hands – are made from excuses of constant disturbances or pressure. A corn is a small, hard, thickened growth of skin or a toughening of the outer layers of the skin inhands or feet. They are cone-shaped, projecting inward which is referred as the root or nail or core or seed.

Corns are white or grey or yellow or brown in colour, depending on the place of the skin. Corns occur commonly on the feet, where the bone presses the sole in weight points, and between the toes. The pressure on the corn gives a feeling of having a pebble in the shoe all the time.

Corns are very painful when they are inflamed. Even small corns are very much annoying. Initially, friction or abrasions cause blister. If rubbing or friction continues everyday, it may form callosity or corn.

The thickening of the skin is a protective reaction to safeguard the skin. For example – in the hands of farmers or rowers, the thickening of skin is formed at the base of the fingers and feet to prevent blister formation during friction. This rough, thickened patch of skin is called callosity. It has even thickness and occurs most commonly on the heels and balls of the feet, knees and palms. They don’t pain unless otherwise pressure is applied sideward. The callosities are usually superficial and larger than corns and have undefined margin.

The thickened hyperkeratotic lesion often invade deeper and become corn. Corns generally are found in soles and toes which rub one another. Whenever pressure is applied directly on corn, a sharp pain occurs. Basic pathology, symptoms and predisposing factors are one and the same for corns and callosities.

Causes

The main cause for formation of corn is abnormal and constant mechanical stress on the skin. Relieving pressure on high-risk areas of the feet not only stops corns from forming but also prevents their recurrence. Neither corns nor callosities are serious conditions. In lean elderly people, corn formation is commonly seen because there will be lack of supportive cushion tissue on the bottom of the foot.

The causative factors can be classified as follows:

Intrinsic factors

1) Bony prominences
2) Faulty gait i.e. walking foot mechanism
3) Deformed toes
Hammer toes – it is an abnormal second toe which overrides on the big toe. This overriding elevates the joint, which often rub with shoes and become the commonest site for formation of corn.

Bunion- it is an abnormally displaced prominent big toe. People with bunions often develop callosity over the bunion due to constant rubbing against the shoe.

Extrinsic factors

Shoes – Hard leather shoes with tight fitting or ill-fitting high heels
Occupational – Any continuous pressure which arises during occupation will mark in the body as corns
Athletes suffer from constant friction and trauma
Guitar players’ fingertips are common sites of callosities due to playing sharp strings frequently
Abnormality of gait – Due to
Surgery done in the lower extremities
Due to pain while walking
Walking down a hill
Standing on a hard surface for a long time

Occurrence: The condition is more prevalent in females since their skin is smooth in texture. Common sites of corn’s formation are:
On the sole, over the metatarsal arch – the ball of the foot
On the outside border of the fifth toe, where it rubs against the shoe
Between the 4th and 5th toe, since both of them often rub with each other in a slanting manner

Symptoms:

Pain and swelling in and around the corn
Sensation of walking on pebbles
Discomfort and pain with direct pressure, since root gets pressed

Types: Corns may look different, according to the size and location. They are divided into two main types, depending upon the texture of the inner core either soft or hard.

Soft corn
 – A soft corn is a small, inflamed patch of skin with a smooth centre. It is found commonly in between the fourth and fifth toe. Soft corn results from the absorption of moisture due to sweat, and it is noticed by its white, macerated boggy appearance. Women are more prone to this type of corn, since they work more in water. Perspiration also causes soft corns to break down and become extremely tender. They don’t appear at sites of pressure points. It becomes an extremely painful lesion when the opposing toe moves against it, causing friction.

Hard corns – A hard corn is a firm, dry and tender lesion with a shiny polished surface.

Hard corns usually occur over the bony part, on the lateral aspect of the fifth toe. They are hard to touch and may feel like a small stone in the shoe while walking. Though always found single, it may be found in several different areas on the same foot. The hard corn is the most common type and it has a hard central core. This central core distinguishes it from warts. The major points to differentiate it from warts are, they do not have roots and they are contagious. Palpation of the lesion can also help to differentiate the plantar wart from the corn. Corns are more sensitive to direct pressure, while a plantar wart is more sensitive on lateral compression of the lesion. Warts are a dry crusty surface lesion which appears in clusters.

Further corns are differentiated as:

Age corn – These can be noticed on the feet of aged people. Here prevalence of corns increases with increasing age due to thinning of muscles against bony prominence.

Seed corn – This is the least common type of corn which occurs only in the heel or ball of the foot with a seed (circular stiff skin surrounding a plug of cholesterol).

Prevention

Most corns and callosities disappear within a month after relieving the pressure that causes them. They tend to recur if the pressure returns.

For prevention,

Avoid -

Stress to hands or feet by using gloves and shoes
Shoes for a while, or avoid hard leather-bottom shoes
High heels

Wear -

Thick socks for cushioning effect
Gloves during work to avoid frictions
Shoes with soft cushioned soles

Don’t -

Rub corns since it may become ulcerated
Use acids, it may damage surrounding normal tissues also

Do’s -
Cushioning to reduce the amount of mechanical irritation on the site of the corn formation
Soak feet or hands in warm water for sometime to make it soften

Treatment

should be given as soon as the abnormality is noticed. The first step is to identify and eliminate the inducing factor, i.e. pressure and friction points. There are different varieties of treatment available in the market, that too attractively, as

1) Giving symptomatic relief by pain killers and antibiotic

2) Corn plaster – a plaster with central opening to disperse weight

3) Corn paint – This application has acids which make hard tissue, soft. Salicylic acid is used in different forms as applicators, drops, pads, and plasters. Corns may take a few weeks to resolve with this method of salicylic acid treatment

4) Align gait, including cushioning and removal of constant pressure points

5) Surgery for corns is rarely necessary. When necessary, it involves shaving the underlying bone also which presses the skin, to reduce the pressure.

6) Enucleation – to let out the nucleus i.e. root or nail or seed as patient prefers

7) Electro surgery – removal of the corn as whole, under local anesthesia

Precaution should be taken when you have

Diabetes
Hypersensitivity
Poor circulatory disorders
Autoimmune disorders
Peripheral neuralgic disorders

Complications

Bursitis – infection of sheath which avoids friction while moving the joint. Here you will get sudden sharp pain that spreads quickly in palm and soles.
Development of an ulcer occurs when infected with bacteria or fungus. It is common in diabetic patients.

The homeopathic approach

It is a natural way to help the body by supporting the body’s own process of healing. It involves the use of extremely diluted substances to heal the body through the release of vital energy. The rule in Homeopathy is that ‘like treats like’. The early you treat, the speedier and more complete the cure. In all a natural way of healing where the immune power is increased against that disease, so that recurrences are avoided. When the cure is not in the proper way, the disease recurs.

Treating skin disorders is very tough since it is outer most part of the body and also often exposed to irritants or pollutants or friction which hinder the action of drugs. Also recurrence is common in skin disorders, with no exception for corns. Some may go for surgical removal. Here also recurrence occurs with permanent scarring.

External application or treating externally with any other means usually suppresses the condition and is prone to skin thickening again. In Allopathy, they can’t treat corn with internal medicines since they cannot find disease or bacteria or virus in corns. Corn is a surgical complaint in Allopathy, so simply they go with surgical management. But in Homeopathy, corns can be treated with internal medicines after eliminating pressure or frictions, and you will be surprised when they are expelled automatically.

First of all, the causative factor should be removed (if found). Then medicines should be taken as per the direction of the Homeopath. There are many drugs in Homeopathy to relieve pain and to expel corns. These medicines not only relieve the pain but also treat the condition permanently. The most common medicines used are Anti-crud, Thuja, Radium brom, Ranunculus bulbosis, Pulsatilla, Sulphur, Natrum Mur, Nitric acid, etc. These Medicines should be taken under the advice and diagnosis of a qualified Homeopath.

Cracked heels - Homeopathy Treatment - Dr.S.Chidambaranathan M.D (Homeo)

Cracked heels
-
World Class Holistic Homeopathy Treatment

SKIN – Cracked heels

Our skin is a good barometer which indicates how healthy the body is. Skin acts as a covering and works as a defense force against infection. It protects our body from heat or cold, external germs, noxious chemicals or toxins, etc. The most common friction spots harden to give additional protection against injury, whereas other parts remain soft. Dry parched skin indicates its poor quality.

Cracks mean initial, partial break or interruptions in continuity. Cracks are also medically termed as fissures. Fissures are regular linear cut wounds – mostly superficial which involve epidermis. Sometimes it may get deep into the dermis and become painful.

Cracks in the skin can arise anywhere in the body. The commonest site is the rim of the heel and web of toes, which are the most frequently or constantly used parts of our body. The cracks usually occur on the edges or at the junction of two different types of skins, for example the rim of the heel, corners of the mouth, lips, anus, nipple, webs of the fingers, ear folds, etc. Skin problems cause physical and psychological stress

Incidences

Cracks in the heel or heel fissures are most commonly seen in older people or persons who constantly walk barefoot. It can affect either both the heels or one of the heel. But most commonly, it is seen on both the heels. Likewise, fissures are more common with diseases like diabetes, eczema, psoriasis, etc. Females suffer most commonly than males, “with more indulgence in water, causing cracks”. But, unfortunately, people living in dry climates have higher incidence than persons in wet regions.

Causes – The occurrence of cracks may be due to external or internal factors. But dry skin or dryness is the prime cause.

External factors

·         Pressure and frequent movements

·         Standing for a long time

·         Change in walking posture

·         Summer heat

·         Over or constant indulgence in water

Unhygienic circumstances or conditions

Internal factors

·         Unhealthy, dry scaly skin due to climate or diseases

·         Thick dry scaly skin with loss of elasticity due to ageing – cracks have higher incidence over age

·         Deformity of foot due to congenital problem or injury or diseases – Flat foot, calcaneal spurs, etc

·         Diseases like diabetes, eczema and psoriasis can also contribute to cracked feet

·         Deficiency of vitamins, minerals and zinc

Obese (everyone can notice cracks on an elephant’s foot due to overweight and dryness)

Symptoms

Cracks in the rim of the heel or soles or web of toes are the main symptoms. The length and width may vary depending upon the position and pressure exerted. The edges of the cracks are usually raised as crusts and resist healing. Other than fissures, mostly there won’t be any symptoms. But in extreme cases, pain will be more with bleeding and restriction of movement. Also, there will be pain in the cracks while walking or standing or touching the part. Red raw part may show in some deep ulcers. Discharges can occur in case of infection.

Preventive measures

Caring for skin

·         Keep soles clean

·         Wear soft, cushioned, comfortable shoes or slippers

·         Wear socks to prevent friction

·         Apply oil, if there is dryness

·         Take rich sources of vitamins – fruits, dates, leafy vegetables etc.

Avoid

·         Walking bare foot

·         Tight shoes

·         Standing for a long time in water

·         Contact of bleaching powder or any other chemical

Using strong chemical soaps

Self management

is mainly for cushioning the skin to protect it from further damage and for moisturising or lubricating to promote the healing process in a better way.

Clean and keep it soft

·         Wash properly at bed time and make sure that sand or mud particles are not present inside the cracks

Make it dry for 10-15 minutes and then apply moisturiser cream or vaseline or oil, since immediate application of vaseline, after washing, will trap water inside the cracks and won’t let them to dry speedily. Also water inside the cracks can promote infection

Avoid for better healing

·         Sporting activities during the healing process

·         Barefoot walking to avoid mud getting into the cracks

·         Any friction or injury or chemical contact

·         Picking or peeling of skin since it may become red and sore

·         Sour foods, non-veg, fast foods, oily foods

For better healing

·         Do skin scrapping to reduce the thickness of the skin

·         Soak the soles in lukewarm water for 10 minutes and scrap mildly to reduce thickness. Some rub the foot against the floor or use stones or scrubber or loofah (mesh from the vegetable) while bathing, with the same result

·         Don’t be cruel in removing the thick skin to prevent injury

Apply petroleum jelly or vaseline or parraffin oil after drying the area

Complications

Usually, there won’t be any complications. But when the cracks are deep and sufferer is diabetic, then there lies the danger of bleeding, infection and serious complications. So cracks must be attended to in the initial period itself or otherwise it may extend the damage to the internal organs of the body like the crack in a building ruining the whole structure when left un-repaired. Also it is often noticed that suppressing the cracked heels with steroidal ointments will lead to respiratory or asthma complaints. The relationship is not clearly known.

General treatment

In Allopathy, mostly internal medicines are not prescribed. Only in extremely painful deep cracks, antibiotics are used to control the infection. But the course of antibiotics often manages the situation temporarily and the cracks recur once you stop the medicines. External applications like germicidal or bactericidal or antiseptic or steroids are also commonly prescribed. These applications also clear the complaint very temporarily i.e. while in use. Vaseline or liquid paraffin is commonly advised for moisturising.

Homeopathic approach

Treating any skin disorder is very tough, since it is the outermost part of the body and also often exposed to irritants or pollutants or frictions, which hinder the action of drugs. Also, recurrence is common in most skin disorders, giving no exception for cracks too. Usually, external treatment won’t cure any complaints. So it is better to avoid topical medicinal applications except moisturiser, since ointments or creams will suppress the complaints for the time of use only. Also, if they are used continuously, due to development of drug resistance, the condition may worsen.

Homoeopathic treatment believes in internal treatment and can give permanent cure to cracks. In Homeopathy, cracks are considered as an outburst of an internal disease, which should be treated internally. So, the internal Homoeopathy medicine is often the best natural option to stop recurrence of cracks by raising natural resistance and treating dry skin without any side-effects. This roots out the cause and disease. The right drug selected constitutionally may take some time to act, but once it has started its action, it rides in smooth top gear in the right direction of cure, for resolving the cracks and to control recurrence.

Homeopathic medicines commonly used in cases of cracks or fissures are Acid nit, Antim-crud, Apis mel, Ars alb, Bacillinum, Borax, Carbo animalis, Graphites, Hepar sulph, Hydrocotyle, Kali ars, Kali bich, Kali Brom, Lachesis, Lycopodium, Medorrhinum, Merc sol, Nat mur, Opium, Petroleum, Psorinum, Pulsatilla, Pyrogen, Ranunculosis bulbosis, Rhus tox, Silicea, Sulphur, Thuja, Tuberculinum, etc.. These Medicines should be taken under the advice and diagnosis of a qualified Homeopath.

Dry Skin - Homeopathy Treatment - Dr.S.Chidambaranathan M.D (Homeo)

Dry Skin - World Class Holistic Homeopathy Treatment

SKIN- Dry Skin

Treating dry skin externally – worthy?

For dryness of skin, in the startup phase, sufferers usually go for home treatment with the application of oil, butter, cucumber, lemon, honey, aloe vera juice, peppermint, etc according to their knowledge or ancestors advice. When complaints go out of control they will go to physicians or cosmetologists to get prescribed of ointments / oils / lotions. All the way, every one is most interested with external applications than with internal medicines. With topical applications, everyone can see the resurface of complaints in due course of time or with the stoppage of applications. Sometimes steroidal ointments may need to be applied in continuous manner for suppressing the dryness or skin complaints.

Whether this approach is correct????

Here, one need to aware that the disappearance of the scaly skin / itching doesn’t mean that the disease is waning or getting cured, i.e., skin rash can be easily made to disappear with steroidal external applications which will usually mask the complaint very temporarily. This palliative type of treatment usually drives the disease inner or deeper. Also, if suppression type of treatment is followed for quite a long time, then it is not only tough to cure the case but also difficult to treat or manage its side-effects which may endanger life, i.e., sufferer will be more prone for skin cancer. Since external treatment can’t cure dryness of skin, it is better to avoid topical medicinal applications other than moisturizer to soothe the skin.

Dry Skin

Dryness of skin is a very common skin problem and everyone might have experienced it in one or other time. It is medically termed as “Xeroderma”. This annoying dry skin may occur temporarily as a reaction to environment / irritants or in persistent manner with various systemic illness or skin complaints.

Incidences

it is most common with babies and elderly peoples. Dry skin is usually felt more in extremities (legs and hands) and face / head.

Symptoms

dryness of skin usually leads to scaling, itching, redness, cracks and infection. In course of time, skin will turn rough and ugly.

Causes – are innumerous starting from simple dehydration.

·         Climatic variation – winter and windy seasons can trigger or aggravate dry skin. Also, extreme temperature variation (hot / cold) can cause dryness of skin.

·         Irritants – soaps, shampoos, perfumes, facial make-ups, chlorinated water, diapers, woolen & tight clothing’s, etc.

·         Drugs – diuretics (which increases urine output) and antihistamines (anti allergic)

·         Diseases – Vitamin A & D deficiencies, liver disorders, kidney disorders, thyroid problems, diabetes, skin disorders (sun allergy, allergic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoea, scleroderma) etc can cause dryness of skin. In addition, It can also be genetic where sebaceous glands are less or absent

Complications – skin will lose luster and get infected often with bacteria’s or fungus.

Management

Follow

·         Take good amount of water and juice to hydrate our body / skin

·         Take balanced diet (especially vitamin A & D rich foods – eggs, fish, nuts, rice, carrots, peas, beans, spinach, oranges, tomatoes, and other green vegetables)

·         Keep cleanliness and maintain personal hygiene

·         Care for skin with appropriate clothing’s with respect to environment and temperature

Avoid

·         Hot sun, hot places & hot water

·         Concentrated soaps / shampoos or any irritants found to trigger dry skin

·         Alcohol & Unnecessary medications

Homeopathic approach

usually, treating any skin disorder is very tough, since it is the outermost part of the body and also often gets exposed to irritants or pollutants or frictions, which hinder the curative action of the drugs. Also, recurrence of complaints in skin disorders is common (no exception for dryness of skin too) as it is mostly suppressed due to improper (external) treatment. Just applying moisturizers / ointments will have effect / betterment for that day only. Also, it is like treating only the effects of internal disease(s) and not the disease itself, so with forethought it is of no value.

Homoeopathic treatment believes in internal treatment and can give permanent cure to dryness of skin. In Homeopathy, dryness of skin is considered as an outburst of an internal disease, which should be treated internally. So, the internal Homoeopathy medicine is often the best natural option to stop persistent dryness of skin (i.e., not in temporary dryness which is caused by environments where external applications can soothe skin in better way just like using umbrella for hot sun) by raising natural resistance and treating dry skin without any side-effects. This way of approach will root out the cause and disease (if there is any). The right drug selected constitutionally may take some time to act, but once it has started its action, it rides in smooth top gear in the right direction of cure, for resolving the dryness of skin and to avoid recurrence.

Homeopathic medicines commonly used for eczema are Acid nit, Apis mel, Ars alb, Bacillinum, Cantharis, Causticum, Clematis, Crab apple, Dulcamara, Graphites, Hepar sulph, Hydrocotyle, Kali ars, Kali Brom, Merc sol, Mezereum, Nat mur, Petroleum, Psorinum, Radium Brom, Sarasaparilla, Sepia, Silicea, Skookum chuk, Staphysagria, Sulphur, Tellurium, Thyroidinum, Tuberculinum, Urtica urens, etc. These medicines should be taken under the advice and diagnosis of a Qualified Homoeopath.

Allergic Skin disorders - Homeopathy Treatment - Dr.S.Chidambaranathan M.D (Homeo)

Allergic Skin disorders - World Class Holistic Homeopathy Treatment

 SKIN – Allergic Skin disorders

Our skin is a good barometer of how healthy the body is. A frequent recurrent infection of the skin may indicate that the immunity system is weak. Skin has its own interference with lifestyle in colour and texture. Our skin controls and regulates the water content of the body. It protects body as a covering and works as defence force against infection. It is helpful in activating vitamin D when it is exposed to sunlight. If skin is damaged water content will be lost. Infection will spread resulting in renal shut down and collapse.

When skin or body is confronted with any other foreign substance, our immune system counteracts to withstand any ill effects from that substance. Antigen-antibody reaction will develop to inhibit all the ill effects. If this is excessive and it creates disease like condition then it is called Allergy. So the heightened reaction of the body to external agent is called Allergy. Antigens developed from this reaction attach to blood cells and form mast cells. When this gets contact with allergen, it secretes histamine which is primary chemical conductor and responsible for allergic reactions. When the body has been exposed to the elements known as allergen, which has been previously exposed, allergies form on the body. Allergies are different types as allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma and allergic skin disorder. All allergies are serious and very uncomfortable. Allergies can be due to any foreign material –natural or artificial.

If any foreign substance enters into the nose, we sneeze. If this occurs continuously as allergy then it is called as allergic Rhinitis. Likewise, if there is any irritation in the skin, body reacts as red itchy swelling initially, which in due course with subsequent exposure leads to allergic skin disorder.

Skin allergy usually subsides by it self, and denotes about the bodies sensitivity. If this is excess it becomes allergic skin disorder.

Skin allergies or Allergic Skin Disorders are a serious and uncomfortable type. Any red, bumpy, scaly itchy, swollen skin can signify an allergic skin condition. This is the result of immune reaction against an irritant. From an overall healthcare the problem of allergy scare is dismissed as minor annoyances without due consideration for diagnosis and treatment. The majority sufferers are females leading to dismissal more readily than if the symptoms were experienced by men. Allergy in some form occurs in all individuals.

SYMPTOMS OF SKIN ALLERGIES

Allergic skin condition can take several forms and are due to various causes. They are:

Urticaria — Urticaria is a smooth flat red eruption with white center called Hives. It appears, disappears or reappears suddenly, without leaving any trace. It causes itching, burning and a stinging sensation anywhere in the body. Acuteness may be caused due to scratching, pressure, aggravation on the nerves, exercises or physical exertion, direct exposure to sunlight or cold , metal, pollens, plants, chemicals, oils cream, food as crab, oyster, prawn, tomato, lime and drugs like aspirin, anti inflammatory drugs, BP medicines and pain killers. Hives are a result of histamine acting on the upper layers of skin. Histamine is primary chemical mediator caused due to antigen-antibody reaction.

The urticaria may be as:

·         Heat urticaria-allergy caused due to heat

·         Papular urticaria-allergy caused due to encounter of flies or mites

·         Solar urticaria- a rare form of hive due to exposure to UV radiation

·         Cold urticaria-allergy caused due to cold

·         Pressure urticaria- allergy caused due to tight dresses or any tight situation.

Allergic Contact Dermatitis

When skin comes in contact with an allergic substance as plants, metals, dyes, rubber products, cosmetics and medications, a reaction starts after 1 to 3 days leading to red, itchy, inflamed skin known as Allergic Contact Dermatitis. It is more painful than itchy when the agent in contact with skin is more concentrated. Cold soaks and compresses can offer a relief. All age groups can be affected by contact dermatitis and potential triggers may be found just about anywhere. The hands and feet are the most common areas for contact dermatitis to occur. Usually, these symptoms will occur only in the areas that actually came into contact with the irritant or allergen.

Sun Rash

Some people have sensitive skin to the sun in spring and summer. For them, exposure to sunlight results in a rash which may recur throughout summer. These are small reddish blisters in areas exposed to sunlight. They are extremely itchy. There is relief only during winter. For young ones it is very recurrent since skin is very weak and it disappears as they get older.

Angioedema

Angioedema is a swelling resulting from histamine action on deeper layers of skin and it may or may not occur with hives. It is not red or itchy and mostly affects or occurs in soft tissues such as eye-lids, mouth or genitals

Atopic Dermatatis (Eczema)

Atopic Dermatatis is allergic eczematous condition affecting mostly face, elbows and knees. Itching leads to scales and flakes. In intense cases, oozing will occur if a bacteria or viral infection is introduced by scratching. Common causes are allergens, sweating, overheating, and emotional stress and strain, and diet, irritants in the wool, pets, soaps, and other agents. This is most common in children and individuals with asthma and allergic rhinitis.

DIAGNOSIS OF SKIN ALLERGY

A correct diagnosis along with proper therapy instituted early in the course of the disease will minimise frustration. The diagnosis of skin allergy can be made through:

Intestinal irritation-due to foods like crab, oyster, tomato and lime. Food allergies are usually more difficult to determine. Hives can arise 12-24 hours after consuming the food or food additive making it hard to recall what was eaten earlier. External irritation-due to use of oil and creams, Emotion, Climate changes Menstrual trouble, Suppressed sweat, Medications.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR SKIN ALLERGY

About half the number of patients with chronic hives will have at least one more episode of hives in their lifetime. The primary treatment for eczema is that the patient should stop scratching and rubbing the rash. If any food is identified allergic it should be eliminated from diet. Use sunscreens for sun protection for photosensitive skin.

TREATMENT

Treatment also includes avoidance of stimulus, desensitization and stress reduction.

In allopathy, usually anti-histamines, nerve inhibitors are used to control allergy. It is temporary and works for only 12- 36 hours. This can be noticed in patients who are in continuous exposure to allergen — for example-occupational diseases. If patient takes drugs on long term, side effects will also add to problems.

HOMEOPATHIC APPROACH FOR SKIN ALLERGY

The objective of taking treatment is to provide comfort. Homoeopathy provides it without any side- effects. The homoeopathic approach is a natural way to help the body by supporting the body’s own process of healing. It involves the use of extremely diluted substances to heal the body through the release of vital energy. The rule in homeopathy is that “like treats like”. Homoeopath mostly selects the drugs with the aggravating factors like Taking allergic diet, During full moon Intake of liquor, During menses period, During menopause, On undressing, In open air, At night, especially after 12 p.m.

Also homoeo medicines will not shut allergy like switching off, but it desensitises the body to the allergen by improving immunity. Thus it helps patient to live in their circumstances.

The medicines mostly used are – Apis mel, Sulphur, Ledum, Pulsatilla, Sepia, Croton tig, Arg Nit, Nat mur, Ignatia, Urtica urens, Hepa sulf, Dulcamara, Rhus tox, Graphites, Petroleum, Acid sulp, Acid nit, Capsicum, Ars alb, Causticum. These Medicines should be taken under the advice and diagnosis of a qualified Homeopath.
